: the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group
: the characteristic features of everyday existence (such as diversions or a way of life) shared by people in a place or time
Basically,
Culture is an umbrella term -- it covers arts, foods and way of life.
What we do
Slice of Culture focuses on covering underrepresented stories, especially Hudson County’s BIPOC. We hope to become a bridge for Hudson County locals and all cultures alike through multimedia storytelling.

The Best In Hudson County Media
In 2021, Slice of Culture won first place for “Best Grassroots Journalism.” This award goes to the print weekly or local website that does the best, most comprehensive job covering the community which it serves.
In 2023, two Slice of Culture members won awards in first place and second place.
Creating Community Safe Spaces
Slice of Culture has been a New Jersey Civic Information Consortium grantee since 2021. Being the sole grantee from Hudson County, the funding has supported our storytellers, editorial + creative projects, community events and more to strengthen civic awareness and engagement in Hudson County.
Highlighting Our Local Businesses
Slice of Culture has helped dozens of local businesses gain more exposure through multimedia content. In 2024, Slice of Culture partnered with Jersey City Restaurant Fest to accelerate support for the city's growing restaurant and entrepreneurial landscape.
