Fall Into Spooky Szn With These Activities

Editor’s note: Please abide by all COVID-19 safety protocols. We are still in a pandemic.

It’s Spoooooky Szn, baby! You know what that means, time for ALL of the fall activities!

Aside from classic activities like pumpkin and apple picking, what else is there to do?

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Wine Tasting

Many people might not realize, but New Jersey has a bunch of gorgeous orchards and vineyards throughout the state. Many of them have redesigned the experience to follow all CDC and NJ state guidelines and are open. Here are a few to check out!

  1. 4 JG’S Orchard & Vineyard – Colts Neck, NJ
  2. Sputino’s Wine Bar – Clifton, NJ
  3. Old York Cellars – Ringoes, NJ
  4. Alba Vineyards – Milford, NJ

However, if you’re not comfortable visiting one of these vineyards, you can still enjoy all the fun from the comfort of your home! You can pick a little theme, pair it with some snacks, invite your closest friends and the conversation will flow as the wine does.

Fall Foliage Drive or Hike

Grab some of your fave fall drinks like a hot apple cider or a pumpkin spice latte and get in the car for a little drive to see some stunning treescapes!

  1. Palisades Interstate Park – Alpine, NJ
  2. Watchung Reservation – Mountainside, NJ
  3. Ramapo Mountain State Forest – Wanaque, NJ
  4. Battleground State Park – Manalapan, NJ

Pumpkin and Apple Picking

Okay, if you really want to go for the classic Fall activity, luckily we got so many options right here in our home state! New Jersey is known for its farms – why do you think our nickname is the Garden State? Here are a few great farms within an hour away from Hudson County.

  1. Alstede Farms –  Chester, NJ
  2. Demarest Farms –  Hillsdale, NJ
  3. Wightman Farms – Morristown, NJ
  4. Battleview Orchards – Freehold, NJ
  5. A. Casola Farms – Holmdel, NJ

Pumpkin Carving and Painting

Whether you’re picking up your pumpkins from a farm or the bin at a local supermarket, make sure you also stop at a craft store for necessities like a carving kit, paint, and stencils to execute all those adorable ideas you pinned on Pinterest. You may want to pick up a disposable tablecloth too if you’re as messy as my friends and I are!

Take a Knitting Class

Maybe you want to surprise your best friend with a handmade scarf for her birthday or make a hat for your baby brother? Maybe you’re just cold and need a new blanket? Either way, knitting is said to help relieve stress and manage pain. But the best part? Anyone can learn how to do it! Taking any of the various virtual classes available could connect you with other novices and even a few experts who share an interest in this hobby.

What are some of your favorite Fall activities?
